Postini Mail Center – Virus and Spam Filtering

To access Postini, visit our website at www.napanet.net.  On the website there is a link titled “Mailcenter” listed towards the top of the page.  Click on that link and you will be brought to the Mail Center page.  On the right side of the page you will see the heading “Launch Mail Center”.  Make sure that “Virus and Spam Protection” is selected in the drop down box below.

Type in your e-mail address and password for you e-mail address and click on the Go button.

This will bring you to the main page for the Postini Mail Center.  On this page, you will be able to check junk e-mail filtered by Postini.  If the service has just been activated, there most likely will not be any messages in the Mail Center.

To adjust the filtering settings in Postini click on the link located at the top left of the window labeled “Junk E-mail Settings”.  Here you can turn the junk e-mail blocking on or off, and also adjust the level of filtering that you desire for your e-mail account.  In the “Spam Filtering” section, the default settings are set halfway between lenient and aggressive.  After you set the filtering to your preference, click the “Save Changes” button.

Scrolling down further you will find the “Approved Senders List” and the “Blocked Senders List”.  By adding an e-mail address to the “Approved Senders List”, the e-mails from that address will always be delivered to the in-box even if it is detected by Postini as being spam.

By adding an e-mail address to the “Blocked Senders List”  e-mails from that address will never be delivered to your e-mail in-box.

To add an address to either of these sections simply type in the address in the appropriate section, then click on the “Save to List” button.  The e-mail address will appear in the list below.  To delete an address that was already added, highlight the address you wish to delete and then click the “Delete From List” button.

To adjust the virus detection settings in Postini, on the main Mail Center Page, click on the link labeled “Virus Protection”.  Here you can turn the virus protection on or off by selecting the appropriate button.

Under the notification section, you can also set the frequency of how often you will receive warnings through e-mail, when you have received a virus infected message.  If you do not wish to receive e-mail notifications every time you receive a virus or suspicious message, here you can click on “Disable notifications” in the drop down box.

If you wish to add additional e-mail addresses to be covered by Postini, on the main page of the Mail Center, click on the “Account Settings” link on the top right side of the window.  Under “Managing Account Settings” click on the “Add an alternate address” link.
